Is your child up to date with their MMR vaccinations

16 February 2026

If you or your child has missed your MMR vaccination, come along to one of our drop-in clinics across Powys this week or contact your GP to arrange a vaccination. You can catch up with missed MMR doses at any age.

If you have not had two doses of an MMR-containing vaccine, you are at risk of catching the diseases the vaccine helps protect against. Even if you think you have had MMR-containing vaccinations before but aren’t sure or have no record of this, it is safe to have further doses.

If your child is missing other vaccinations, please see the school nurse timetable below where DTP and MenACWY will be offered. Please ensure you have filled out the consent form.

The MMR vaccine is the safest, most effective way to help protect against measles, mumps and rubella (also known as German measles). Since it was introduced in 1988, these diseases have become rare in the UK. But sometimes outbreaks happen (especially measles outbreaks), when not enough people get vaccinated.

Measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox (also known as varicella) spread very easily between people who haven’t been vaccinated. These diseases are usually mild but can sometimes cause serious health problems.

Although children are offered routine vaccinations against Measles, adults who have not been vaccinated can also be at risk of catching Measles.
