Llandrindod Wells Memorial Hospital improvement programme - Main Entrance Works & Temporary Access Arrangements

The current phase of the Llandrindod Wells Memorial Hospital improvement programme includes a complete refurbishment of the entrance. The refurbishment will provide a much-improved, welcoming environment for staff and visitors while ensuring that the hospital's memorial remembrance plaques are carefully preserved and retained.

During the construction period, alternative access routes will be in place to ensure that clinical services continue with minimal disruption. Please refer to the phasing plan and details of the associated impacts below.

Phase 1: 20 July – 7 August

The main entrance area, including the stairwell, will be closed from 20 July to 7 August 2026.

Phase 1 Impact

  • Access to X-ray, Therapies and Reception will be via the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) entrance, with the lift providing access to the ground floor throughout this phase.

  • Access to Outpatients will be via the side entrance located on the right-hand side of the building for the duration of this phase.

Phase 2: 7 August – 21 August

The corridor connecting the main entrance and Reception, together with the stairwell, will be closed from 7 August to 21 August 2026.

Phase 2 Impact

  • Access to X-ray, Therapies and Reception will continue to be via the MIU entrance, with the lift providing access to the ground floor throughout this phase.

  • The usual Outpatients access route will be reinstated.

Thank you for your patience while these essential improvements are carried out. The temporary disruption will deliver significant environmental benefits for patients, visitors and staff.
