Overnight Care

Powys Teaching Health Board provides overnight care in community hospital inpatient wards, ready to go home units, inpatient rehabilitation units, reablement units, and mental health inpatients wards.

From 2 December 2024, PTHB will provide overnight care for adults in four settings:

  • Our Ready To Go Home Units support people who are well enough to go home but not yet able to do so. These are located in Bronllys and Llanidloes.
  • Our Reablement Units provide support for people who are ready to leave a District General Hospital but need a bit of extra support before they are ready to go homeThese are located in Builth Wells and Knighton.
  • Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Units provide specialist rehabilitation for patients recovering from a serious illness of injury – for example, following a stroke. These are located in Brecon and Newtown.
  • Our community hospital wards focus on patients who require ongoing medical or nursing care in a community hospital setting.

This is in addition to the county’s mental health units.

 
Community Hospital Wards

Powys Teaching Health Board has Community Hospital Wards in Brecon (Y Bannau), Llandrindod Wells (Claerwen), Machnylleth (Twymyn), Welshpool (Maldwyn), and Ystradgynlais (Adelina Patti).

Inpatient Rehabilitation Units

Powys Teaching Health Board has Inpatient Rehabilitation Units in Brecon (Epynt) and Newtown (Brynheulog).

Reablement Units

Powys Teaching Health Board has Reablement Units in Builth Wells (Glan Irfon) and Knighton (Knighton Hospital / Cottage View).

Ready To Go Home Units

Powys Teaching Health Board has Ready To Go Home Units in Bronllys and Llanidloes.
