Waiting Well Service

If you are currently on a waiting list for treatment, surgery or know someone who may need support whilst they wait, the Waiting Well Service can help.

Preparing for treatment or surgery effectively and learning how to manage your symptoms can make a significant difference to your treatment outcome and recovery.

With the Waiting Well Service, you or someone you know can:

  • Speak with a dedicated point of contact for support and advice on managing your health and keeping you well whilst you wait.
  • If your condition has deteriorated our team will signpost you to appropriate resources.
  • Our dedicated team will discuss what matters to you and signpost referrals to alternative health care of community-based services.
  • Our team are available to discuss alternative support that could be provided to you, to improve your health and wellbeing and help prepare you for treatment/surgery. 

At the moment the service will only make outgoing calls to patients on waiting lists, it will not receive incoming calls. 

Why is it important to prepare for treatment/surgery?

Preparing for your treatment/surgery will help you to:

  • have a better response to your future treatment and quicker recovery
  • improve your energy levels, reducing tiredness and improving your sleep pattern
  • maintain your independence and do more of your normal day to day activities
  • improve your general fitness and sense of wellbeing and promote long term healthy lifestyle
