Update on COVID-19 Vaccination Appointments on 10 March 2021

Last Updated 12 March 2021

We want to offer you a COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible.

We currently have capacity in our mass vaccination centre in Builth Wells.

So, if you are in Priority Group 6 (underlying health conditions, unpaid carers), Priority Group 7 (aged 60-64) or Priority Group 8 (aged 55-59) then your invitation may be to our mass vaccination centre in Builth Wells rather than to Bronllys Hospital.

This will be your quickest opportunity for a vaccination appointment.

Why are some residents from South Powys being invited to Builth Wells Mass Vaccination Centre?

We want to offer everyone a COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible.

We currently have capacity in our mass vaccination centre in Builth Wells.

So, during March we are inviting people in Priority Group 6, Priority Group 7 and Priority Group 8 to Builth Wells from a wider catchment area across the county.

Is this a temporary arrangement?

This is a temporary arrangement. We are seeing a big increase in AstraZeneca vaccine supplies in the second half of March and we want to use every appointment to see as many people as possible as quickly as possible.

How will I know where to go?

Your invitation letter will provide information about the date, time and location of your appointment. It also provides information about the vaccination, and how to contact our booking hub.

Is support available for travel and transport?

Yes, travel support is available. This includes local community transport organisations across the county who have provided excellent support for the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Powys.

You can find out about travel support by calling our booking hub (contact details will be in your invitation letter) or from our website: https://pthb.nhs.wales/coronavirus/covid-19-vaccination/information-about-mass-vaccination-centres/travelling-to-a-mass-vaccination-centre/

Do you have a reserve list?

No. We do not currently have a reserve list.

This is because if cancellations become available we are able to call:

  • the next people who are due to receive their invitation
  • people who are eligible for vaccination as unpaid carers who have completed our online form

Please do not call the booking hub to request a reserve appointment.

Can I book an appointment at Builth Wells or can I drop in?

No. COVID-19 vaccination appointments are by invitation only.

You will receive a letter inviting you to an appointment at the mass vaccination centre in Builth Wells. This will offer you a specific date and time. Please aim to arrive just before your appointment time.

What if I cannot travel to the mass vaccination centre in Builth Wells?

If you CAN take up your invitation to an appointment at the Builth Wells Mass Vaccination Centre then please DO.

Travel support is available (see above).

But, if travelling to the mass vaccination centre in Builth Wells is not an option for you, then please call our booking hub when you receive your invitation. They will be able to discuss alternatives, although you may need to wait a little longer than your offer of an appointment in Builth Wells.

Why do you provide vaccination from three mass vaccination centres?

Our mass vaccination centres are a vital part of our vaccination programme. They help us to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible, and they also help us to ensure that we use the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine safely and effectively.
