Alcohol

The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend that an alcohol-free childhood is the healthiest and best option. 

SHRN data shows that in Powys 45.3% of learners reported drinking alcohol, aged 11-16 as compared to Welsh average of 35.6%. 33.6% Year 11's first got drunk at age 13 years or younger as compared to Welsh average of 29.9%.  

Are you a young person wanting support on alcohol use? 

Young people can face serious risks even after small amounts of alcohol, including alcohol poisoning, involvement in violence, and ending up in unsafe or vulnerable situations 

Are you a parent / carer supporting a young person using alcohol? 

Parents and carers are encouraged to talk openly with teenagers and other children about the serious risks associated with drinking.  

Are you a professional supporting a young person/ people using alcohol?

Teenagers can sometimes think they’re invincible. But alcohol is harmful to children and young people – drinking before becoming an adult has additional risks for health and wellbeing.
