How to access NHS dental services for routine treatment

If you are already registered with an NHS dentist and need to make an appointment for routine treatment, please contact your dental practice directly.

You can apply for a place online if:

  • You are not currently registered with an NHS dentist
  • And you have not had routine NHS dental treatment in Wales in the past four years (Your previous dental practice should be able to offer you an appointment if you have had treatment with them in the last four years.)
  • And you live at an address in Powys for more than six months of the year, or are registered with a GP in Powys

How to get emergency dental treatment

A dental emergency means that you need urgent assistance for a serious problem in your mouth.

This could be cause by things such as infection and dental injury.

Comon emergency dental problems include:

  • severe toothache where painkillers have not helped
  • bleeding after a tooth extraction
  • visible swelling of the neck or face
  • knocked-out teeth

If you are registered with an NHS dentist, please contact your dental practice directly for an emergency appointment.
