Llanfair Caereinion Community Focus

This is the first edition of a regular community newsletter for the people of the Llanfair Caereinion area designed to keep you informed of the development of the proposed Primary Care Centre in the town.

Powys Teaching Health Board, Caereinion Medical Practice and the development partner Assura remain committed to this project with a view to improving facilities in the town which will host:

  • General Medical Services, i.e. the services provided by your GPs;
  • Community services from Powys Teaching Health Board, such as district nursing and health visiting services;
  • General Dental Services, i.e. general dentistry provided by dentists employed by the health board.

Jayne Lawrence is Assistant Director of Primary Care Services with Powys Teaching Health Board. She explained: “This project has been delayed due to industry-wide rising construction costs but we remain committed to providing a fantastic new building for patients in the Llanfair Caereinion area.”

“We realise that the current GP practice building has limitations and we are working hard to build a replacement on Watergate Street as soon as possible. The new Primary Care Centre will be built to the latest environmental BREEAM standards, will provide more patient and staff parking on the 1.7 acre site, will improve patient confidentiality as well as provide better facilities for patients and staff,” Jayne added.
