With a YELLOW warning of snow affecting the whole of Powys, our Mass Vaccination Centres in Bronllys, Builth Wells and Newtown ARE CLOSED on Saturday 30 January for the safety of patients and staff.
On Friday, through the tremendous spirit of the people of Powys, we managed to achieve two days of vaccination in a single day, so that no vaccine is wasted.
Our mass vaccination centres normally open from Wednesday to Saturday. This is based on the current UK supplies of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine: we receive several trays each week, but each tray of around 1000 doses must be used with four days once it is opened.
With snow and travel disruption forecast for Saturday we quickly put in place a plan to make sure we used all of our week’s supplies of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine by Friday. This means that we are able to close today - and make sure we keep patients safe and keep staff safe.
This has only been possible due to the amazing hard work of our staff and volunteers, and a wonderful response from our communities.
Thank you to everyone who has filled in our reserve list, and please accept our apologies if we have not yet been able to contact you. Our team was able to contact hundreds of people due their appointment on Saturday to rearrange this for yesterday. They will continue trying to contact any patients we’ve not yet reached. If we have not been able to reach you then please use the details in your appointment letter to contact our booking team and we will arrange a new appointment as soon as possible. We remain on track to offer appointments (including rescheduled appointments) to people in Priority Groups 1-4 by mid February.
Please do not attend an appointment at a Mass Vaccination Centre in Powys on Saturday 30 January.
If you have an appointment with your GP Practice, please check with your practice for details.
