Celebrating the contribution of Allied Health Professionals on #AHPsDay on 14 October

On the 14th of October, the allied health professions will be celebrating the 6th annual AHPs Day. As Executive Director for Therapies and Health Science I am encouraging all colleagues to celebrate on the day itself and throughout the week.

As the third-largest clinical workforce within health and care, Allied Health Professions (AHPs) play a pivotal role in supporting our local ambitions for a Healthy, Caring Powys and nationally to achieve A Healthier Wales. AHPs Day is an annual occasion to unite and recognise their contribution. It offers a platform to spotlight the remarkable impact AHPs have on the delivery of care.

For example, AHPs Day provides an opportunity to:

  • Promote awareness of the vital role of each of the individual Allied Health Professions.
  • Highlight local service achievements and their profound influence on patient care and public health.
  • Showcase our work to those considering a career as an allied health professional or attract others who aren’t aware of the great opportunities and these fantastic roles.

I would like to thank all AHPs  for the huge contribution they make to the health and wellbeing of the people of Powys and recognise the huge diversity of your roles.

Claire Madsen, Executive Director of Therapies and Health Science, Powys Teaching Health Board
