Powys Teaching Health Board is delighted to achieve the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award 2025.
The ESR Silver Award recognises employers who have actively demonstrated exceptional support to the Armed Forces community through the development and implementation of practical, inclusive workplace policies.
Mererid Bowley, Executive Director of Public Health, said:
‘We are incredibly proud to receive the Defence Employer Silver Recognition Scheme Award, recognising our commitment and dedication as an employer to the Armed Forces community. As a health board, our core values underpin all our policies to promote a supportive, flexible and inclusive environment for all our staff, including Reservists, Veterans, and military families. As we mark Armed Forces week, Powys Teaching Health Board will join the nation to show our support for those who have served in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army & the Royal Air Force, both past and present.’
Veteran Duncan Crawley, who works for the Health Board following a career of 25 years in the Royal Navy, said:
‘‘I was drawn to the NHS, and Powys Teaching Health Board specifically, because I wanted to continue serving my community in a meaningful way. As the Professional Lead for Catering and Environmental Cleanliness, I can apply my experience to ensure high standards that directly impact patient care and staff wellbeing. I’m genuinely thrilled to see recognition for the Armed Forces community evolving within our Health Board. It makes me proud to know that our contribution is valued and celebrated, and it gives me hope that this support will keep growing for future colleagues transitioning into healthcare.”
