New ways to register for an NHS Dentist

Residents of Powys can now register online to join a waiting list for NHS Dental treatment.

Now, as well as being able to call the dental helpline, you can also register via a national database and you will be contacted by the next local dentist with available spaces.

How to access NHS dental services for routine treatment

If you are already registered with an NHS dentist and need to make an appointment for routine treatment, please contact your dental practice directly.

You can apply for a place online if:

  • You are not currently registered with an NHS dentist
  • You have not had routine NHS dental treatment in Wales in the past four years (Your previous dental practice should be able to offer you an appointment if you have had treatment with them in the last four years.)
  • You live at an address in Powys for more than six months of the year, or are registered with a GP in Powys

Apply for an NHS dentist place

Patients can use the Dental Access Portal to apply for a place with an NHS dentist as an individual or on behalf of others, such as a child, family member or as a paid or unpaid carer for.

If you do not wish to or cannot apply online, please call the Powys Dental Helpline on 01686 252 808.

If you are eligible and apply, you will be contacted when a suitable place becomes available.

If you are not eligible to apply, the Community Dental Service (CDS) may offer additional support.

If you live in Powys or you are registered with a GP in Powys and need help getting routine dental treatment, call the Powys Dental Helpline on 01686 252808.
