Update on NHS Dental Services in Llandrindod Wells

Important Patient Notice – Little Owl Dental Practice Closure

We regret to report that Little Owl Dental Practice in Llandrindod Wells has ceased trading and all appointments are cancelled. This action follows the suspension of the Dentist running the service by the General Dental Council.

What should you do next?

  • If you are experiencing dental pain or bleeding: Please contact NHS 111 for an urgent appointment. Please note, you may need to travel to attend an NHS urgent appointment.
  • NHS Patients needing routine treatment: You can add your details to the Dental Access Portal https://pthb.nhs.wales/dap and when an NHS dentist is taking on new patients you will be allocated a space. If you don't have internet access please phone the Dental Helpline on 01686 252808
  • Denplan Patients: You have two options:
    • Add yourself to the Dental Access Portal to await NHS access.
    • Contact Denplan directly via phone or their website to search for an alternative Denplan dentist. Please note, the Health Board does not hold these details.

Powys Teaching Health Board won't tolerate any aggressive behaviour towards their staff and phone calls will be terminated if this is the case. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Next Steps

We fully recognise how disappointing this news will be for local patients.

The health board is working at pace to identify alternative arrangements for NHS dental services in the area but unfortunately there are no solutions that will offer immediate continuity of service. The statutory and contractual processes to put a new general dental services contract in place do take some time and we will ensure that you are kept updated on progress.
