Former Welsh Government Minister appointed to senior Powys health role

Kirsty Williams CBE announced as new Vice Chair of Powys Teaching Health Board

Welsh Government has confirmed the appointment of Kirsty Williams CBE as its new Vice Chair.

Welcoming the news, Professor Vivienne Harpwood, Chair of the Health Board said: “I’m delighted that Kirsty is joining us. She brings with her enormous experience as a longstanding advocate for the people of Powys as a public servant and former Welsh Government Minister.

“She will be a great asset to the Board, and I am very much looking forward to working with her in months and years ahead as Powys Teaching Health Board navigates some of the toughest challenges the NHS in Wales has ever faced.”

Kirsty Williams said: “I am excited to be joining Powys Teaching Health Board at this critically important moment as our health services continue to respond to the biggest health emergency of our lifetime and look to secure a path to recovery from the disruption caused by the pandemic.”

Kirsty Williams is the successor to Melanie Davies, who served on the Board from December 2013, and as Vice Chair from June 2014 to December 2021.
