Recruitment under way to strengthen Community Dental Services in Powys

Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) has launched a recruitment drive to strengthen its Community Dental Service, with new opportunities now open for dentists and dental nurses to join the team.

The posts – including Dental Officer and Dental Nurse roles – form part of PTHB’s ongoing commitment to NHS dental provision in Powys.

Warren Tolley, Dental Director at PTHB, said:

“We are ambitious in our plans to expand community dental services in Powys. These new roles are an important investment in our Community Dental Service, helping us to strengthen local provision. We are looking for skilled and motivated clinicians who want to make a real difference for our communities.”

Powys’ Community Dental Service delivers a wide range of NHS care, including specialised treatment for people with additional care needs, dental sedation, oral surgery and endodontic treatment. Alongside these specialised services, the Community Dental Service in Powys has been expanding to increasing the range of routine treatment services to complement those provided by high street dentists.

Both vacancies are based in Llandrindod Wells and are now live on the NHS Jobs website.  Further information and full job descriptions are available at:

Please note that closing dates may be subject to change.

Mr Tolley added:

“Working in a Community Dental Service is a great opportunity for dental professionals keen to expand their skills. You will work in one of the most picturesque parts of the country as part of a supportive team to provide specialist care to people with complex needs, alongside routine dental care for adults and children.”

The recruitment campaign will support the health board to deliver an expanded community dental service in Lladrindod Wells, with an additional dental chair being installed as part of a £2.5m upgrade to Llandrindod Wells Memorial Hospital.
