Acting Arrangements confirmed while Hayley Thomas focuses on treatment and recovery

Pete Hopgood has been confirmed as acting Chief Executive of Powys Teaching Health Board during Hayley Thomas’s sickness absence.

In a message to health board staff last week Hayley Thomas said:

“I wanted to let colleagues hear this information from me. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and, over the coming months, I’ll be taking time away from work to undergo treatment.

“I’m very grateful that the cancer has been identified and I’m receiving excellent care. I know the organisation is in safe hands while I’m away.

"One thing I would like to say is this: if you’re invited for breast screening, please go. If you notice something that doesn’t seem right, don’t put off getting it checked. As healthcare professionals we encourage our patients to do that every day, and I’m incredibly grateful that I sought advice when I did.

“PTHB has a great team of people, and I have every confidence that you’ll continue the important work ahead while I focus on my treatment and recovery.”
