Congratulations to Carol Shillabeer in her new role as permanent Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board

I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Carol Shillabeer who has today been announced as the permanent Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) following their recent recruitment process.

Carol joined BCUHB on secondment from Powys Teaching Health Board in May, and her appointment to the permanent role reflects the care and compassion we have experienced here in PTHB since she joined the health board as Executive Director of Nursing in 2009 before taking on the role of CEO in 2015.

I wish Carol every success in her new role, and I am sure these sentiments will be echoed by colleagues and partners across Powys. If you have a message you would like to share in our card for Carol, these can be sent to powys.executive@wales.nhs.uk

During Carol’s secondment, the health board has benefited from the leadership and direction of Hayley Thomas as our interim Chief Executive, and I am delighted that she will continue in this interim role along with Pete Hopgood as interim Deputy Chief Executive. Recruitment to our permanent role will begin in the new year, and this means that our current Board and Executive Team arrangements remain as below.

Dr Carl Cooper, Chair, Powys Teaching Health Board
