Mobile Testing Units return to Machynlleth and Ystradgynlais from Monday 24 May

Mobile testing units will return to Machynlleth and Ystradgynlais from Monday 24 May for residents in the towns and wider area to have easy access to coronavirus testing.

The two units are located in Y Plas Car Park, Machynlleth, and Ystradgynlais Rugby Football Club.

Mobile testing is by appointment-only and provide a drive-through service.

Testing teams are urging people to continue to use their nearest testing unit if they become unwell with any of the classic signs and symptoms of COVID-19. These are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste. COVID-19 testing is also available in Powys for a wider set of symptoms including if you generally feeling unwell, as this helps to spot cases of COVID-19 which otherwise may have been undetected.

Residents can also access two further national testing centres in Newtown and Brecon where you can walk, drive or cycle for a test. Smaller Community Testing Units are also located in Builth Wells and Welshpool for drive-through appointments.

Residents who are experiencing symptoms but are unable to attend a testing unit can request a Home Testing Kit, delivered to your home.

Please remember, that new variants of Coronavirus continue to pose a threat to public health. It is vital that everyone follows the rules in place for Alert Level 2 in Wales.

Everyone should follow this guidance whether or not they have received COVID-19 vaccination.

More information about what we will all need to do at Alert Level 2 is available from the Welsh Government Website at What you need to do at alert level 2.
