Powys Teaching Health Board has received an application from the Llanfyllin Group Practice to close their GP branch surgery in Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant.
The practice’s reason for submitting the application is that they consider their multi-site rural practice model to be financially unsustainable under the current national General Medical Services funding model in Wales.
The application is being considered in accordance with the Health Board Branch Practice Review Process. This process ensures that applications for branch closures are given careful and thorough consideration before any decisions are made on the way forward.

The period of engagement took place from 20 July 2026 to 30 September 2026. Thank you for the feedback we received. We are conscientiously considering the feedback received and will take this into account when deciding on the application at a future meeting, in public, of Powys Teaching Health Board. We currently expect to consider this recommendation in December.
