Update on Newtown Health and Wellbeing Hub

Powys Teaching Health Board and Powys County Council can confirm that the North Powys Wellbeing Programme is experiencing a delay while work continues to secure the appropriate arrangements to take forward the first phase of the project.

The first phase, due to be built on the site of Y Parc offices, remains focused on bringing a range of health, care and wellbeing services together in a modern, purpose-built environment. The plans include “one stop shop” health and wellbeing services, new training facilities to help recruit and retain health and care staff, expanded community dental services, and specialist clinics for people with long-term conditions.

Programme partners remain committed to progressing the first phase of the project and are assessing the implications for the overall timetable as the procurement exercise continues.

The Pre Application Consultation had previously been expected later this autumn. The revised timing will be confirmed through the appropriate governance processes before a further public update is issued.

In the meantime, local partners and key stakeholders are being kept informed so they can plan appropriately for events and activity during 2027.

Both organisations remain committed to the ambitions of the North Powys Wellbeing Programme and to delivering improved health, care and wellbeing facilities for local residents. Further information will be shared once the updated programme position has been confirmed.
