Welsh Government is recruiting an Independent Member (Finance) to Powys Teaching Health Board

Following the end of the term of office of the previous Independent Member (Finance), Tony Thomas, recruitment is now under way to this vital role.

Applications are welcomed by 18 January 2024 via the Welsh Government Public Appointments Portal where more information about the role is available.

Now more than ever, the contribution made by our public appointees is critical in ensuring a continually improving Board that is passionate about planning, commissioning and providing quality local health services to address local needs.

Reflecting our commitment to board diversity, applications from currently underrepresented population groups are particularly welcomed.

As a large, deeply rural Health Board, Powys presents particular opportunities and challenges. This makes Board membership especially interesting, stimulating and enjoyable. We are looking to appoint someone with the necessary skills, but also someone that embodies the values and culture of our organisation.

We are a unitary Board, comprising executive and independent members. Our new board colleague will help to further enhance team cohesion and the effectiveness of our governance.

If you would like an informal conversation about the role, please get in touch.

Information about all public appointments in Wales, including the new roles of Chair and Lay Members of the new NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee is available from the Welsh Government Public Appointments website:

Kind regards

Dr Carl Cooper, Chair, Powys Teaching Health Board
