World Hepatitis Day – 28 July 2026

We are raising awareness of World Hepatitis Day on 28 July 2026 and encouraging everyone to Get Tested for Hepatitis.

Viral hepatitis can affect anyone, and many people have no symptoms, meaning they may be living with the infection without even knowing it. Taking a simple test could be one of the most important steps you take to protect your health and the health of those around you.

Hepatitis can be transmitted in a number of ways, and sometimes exposure can happen even when we believe we are taking every precaution.

You may feel hepatitis does not affect you, but taking a simple free test removes uncertainty. It gives you answers, provides reassurance, and helps ensure that anyone who needs support can access the right care.

Early diagnosis can help prevent serious liver disease and ensure people receive the treatment and support they need. To improve access to testing, the Powys Health Protection Team offers inclusive outreach testing activities across the county, bringing testing closer to local communities.

As part of World Hepatitis Day 2026, the Powys Health Protection Team is inviting rugby clubs across the county to take part in our hepatitis awareness and testing initiative. We have developed a dedicated flyer to support clubs in sharing information with players, members, and wider communities.

Lead your team and your community by getting tested for hepatitis. By knowing your status, you can help start conversations, reduce stigma, and encourage others to take a simple step that could make a real difference to their health.

Testing is also available through a range of services, including Kaleidoscope, Test and Post, GP practices, and sexual health services.

Together, we can help eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat.
