There are still seven drop in events around the county for residents to have their say with Powys Teaching Health Board as part of its Better Together programme.

Powys Teaching Health Board is delighted to announce the appointments of Rhiannon Beaumont-Wood to the role of Vice Chair and Mick Giannasi as Independent Member of Powys Teaching Health Board

As we move through the winter months, we are seeing an increase in respiratory illnesses, including colds, flu and other winter viruses, as well as cases of diarrhoea and vomiting in our community.

The current plans are due to be considered by Powys County Council’s Health and Care Scrutiny Committee before going to the Powys County Council Cabinet and Powys Teaching Health Board for consideration on 16 December 2025.

Many congratulations to Tanya Thomas, Team Leader for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Powys, who won in the category of Mental Health Nurse at last week’s RCN Wales Nurse of the Year Awards.

Update from Powys Teaching Health Board on Pharmacy Services in Llanfyllin

Work will now resume on proposals for enhanced road-based care in remote and coastal parts of Wales.

Information about the current position and next steps following recent temporary service changes in Brecon, Bronllys, Llandrindod Wells, Llanidloes and Newtown.

Last week saw the official opening of the Richardson Centre for Mental health and Wellbeing in Llandrindod Wells. Named after a much-loved colleague who sadly passed away, the centre replaces the former ‘Hazels’ building in a modern, accessible setting.

From December 2025, new Orange, Yellow and Green categories will replace the current Amber and Green categories.

We are very pleased to have welcomed our latest cohort of six internationally trained nurses to Brecon Hospital. Sheeja, Reshma, Sibi, Jayalekshmi, Abida and Ardra are all from India and moved to the UK earlier in the year. All six have settled into Brecon extremely well and are working on Y Bannau ward at the hospital.

Autumn is upon us and winter is just around the corner. It’s a great time for getting cosy and hunkering down, but for many the shorter days and longer nights can take a toll on sleep.

Each year on the 11th of November, we come together, united in remembrance, to honour all those who have served, suffered, and sacrificed in the conflict of war, and those service personnel who continue to serve with courage and dedication.

Just a few small daily habits can go a long way towards helping to keep you and your loved ones safe.
